Is a BMW gearbox repair worth it when the car is only five years old? (68 อ่าน)

My BMW 118i is only five years old, and last week it started to feel strange when I drive in the city. When I press the pedal after a stop, there is a short delay and then a small jerk, almost like the car is thinking before it moves. It does not happen every day, so I keep telling myself it is nothing. But my wife noticed it too, and she is the one who never complains about anything. The car has around 78,000 kilometers, which feels very low to me for a gearbox problem. I always did the oil changes on time, so I honestly did not expect this. A friend of mine said I should learn more about BMW transmission repair before I go to any workshop, so I would understand what they are talking about. I read a page about BMW gearbox repair online, and it explained things like fluid, sensors and worn parts in easy words. It helped, but now I have more questions than before. Can a gearbox problem start this early, or is it usually a small thing like software or a sensor? Does the gearbox fluid really need changing on a car this young, because some people told me it is lifetime fluid and some said that is not true? Also, is the car still under some kind of warranty at this age, or does that only work at the main dealer? If I go to a normal workshop first, will that cause trouble later? I use the car every day for work, so I do not want to leave it for many days if I can avoid it. How long does a basic check usually take, and do they tell you the answer the same day? I also wonder how I can know if a repair will last or if the problem will come back after a few months. If anyone here had a newer BMW with the same small jerk, please tell me what the cause was and what you paid. Thanks for reading.
