2K26 Drops Real FG% Option in Bold Move Toward Skill-Based Shooting (32 อ่าน)

NBA 2K26 is on its way to store shelves and digital platforms, andNBA 2K26 MT for Sale while the upcoming release features exciting updates in visuals and gameplay, one major change has caught the attention of long-time fans — the removal of Real Field Goal Percentage (Real FG%). This metric, which has been present in every NBA 2K title to date, is no longer part of the gameplay options in NBA 2K26. The decision has ignited a wave of discussion and criticism from the player base, especially among those who prefer a true simulation-style experience.

Real FG% is a feature that allows players to base shot outcomes on a player’s real-life shooting ability rather than user timing or input. In modes like MyNBA, MyTeam, and even online head-to-head games, this setting allowed users to take control of teams while letting the player attributes — not just hand-eye coordination — determine the outcome of shots. For example, if Stephen Curry was open beyond the arc, the Real FG% setting ensured he had a high likelihood of making that shot, regardless of the user’s timing on the release. Conversely, a poor shooter would miss more often, even if the shot was “well-timed” using a button press.

The removal of this feature appears to be a philosophical shift for the franchise. The development team seems to be placing a stronger emphasis on stick skills and green-release timing. NBA 2K26’s new “Green or Miss” system means shots only go in if perfectly timed. This places more importance on user control and reaction time and less on statistical simulation. While this may appeal to competitive online players, it distances the game from the realistic elements that made NBA 2K famous as a sports simulation.

For years, Real FG% was a staple for franchise players who preferred to manage and coach rather than compete in a twitch-based environment. It also allowed a more accurate simulation of NBA basketball, especially in long-term seasons and stat tracking. Without it, players argue that performance becomes too reliant on individual skill, and the strategic, team-oriented aspects of basketball are diminished.

In removing Real FG%, NBA 2K26 effectively eliminates a gameplay option that appealed to a large portion of its core audience. This includes players who use MyNBA to simulate multiple seasons, build franchises, and watch games unfold with statistical accuracy. Now, those players must either adapt to shot timing or abandon some of the game’s most in-depth modes altogether. The lack of Real FG% also impacts accessibility, as casual players or those with physical limitations may find it harder to compete or enjoy gameplay that is now exclusively based on precision input.

Online communities and forums have been flooded with reactions. Many veteran users have expressed disappointment, arguing that the removal is another example of the series drifting away from its simulation roots in favor of competitive balance and monetization models. Some have even said this will be the first time they skip a 2K release since the early 2000s, citing the loss of this fundamental feature as the breaking point.

While NBA 2K26 introduces impressive visuals, enhanced dribbling systems, new defensive mechanics, and a revamped MyCareer experience, the absence of Real FG% marks a major change in design philosophy. It’s not just a small toggle missing from a settings menu — it’s the removal of a legacy feature that allowed the game to appeal to a wide spectrum of basketball fans.

If NBA 2K26 is truly aiming for a more competitive, skill-based model, then Real FG% may no longer fit into that vision. However, for many players who cherished simulation gameplay, this move feels like a departure from the very identity that made NBA 2K more than just a video game — it made it the most respected virtual representation of basketball ever created.
