Does a battery brand’s history matter, or is it just a sales story? (6 อ่าน)

Funny thing happened at my cousin’s place on Saturday. We were swapping the battery in his Kia Sportage and he started telling me that a brand with a long past must be better, because they have had time to get it right. I said that is just a nice story shops tell, and what matters is how the battery is made today. Neither of us won, and the car got fixed while we were still arguing. Later I read a Premium look at the Varta battery brand history , and it showed me that the company has changed a lot over the years, with new owners, new factories and newer battery types for modern cars. So maybe we were both a little right. What I still do not know is how much of that history reaches the battery I hold in my hand. When you shop for one, what do you look at first, the name, the size, the power number or the date on the label? Is an AGM or EFB battery really worth the extra money in Dubai summers, or is it mostly a sales line? And if a shop says the battery is genuine, is there a simple way to check it yourself? I would love to hear what you bought last time, how many years it lasted, and if you would pick the same one again. Plain answers are best.
